I’m from Japan and now call Ohio home. Living in a foreign country has gently opened my heart through new cultures and experiences, inviting me into deeper beauty and wonder, all held by the assurance of God’s great kindness. I enjoy walking alongside others on their life journeys. I most often meet with Japanese women. I am married to my childhood friend, a mother of three children in college, and a companion to a golden retriever mix. My husband and I have been involved in Japanese ministry for over 25 years.

I am on a lifelong journey of surrendering into my identity as a beloved child of God. Spiritual direction and soul care have been been seeds of grace in the transformational process. When I offer spiritual direction, it is about setting a table, providing safe space to come as we are to notice and respond to Jesus – the one who loves us, knows us, and sustains us. My prayer for my directees is that they too would “taste and see that the Lord is good” and know increasingly what it is to “dwell in the house of the Lord” together.

Having spent twenty years as a Discipleship Director, Claire provides spiritual direction for those seeking to develop healthy rhythms for life and ministry. She believes that the triune God loves us dearly, still speaks today, and desires us to understand His invitations for our lives. Claire is also trained to offer the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. God’s invitation led Claire and her husband, Chris, on an 18-year unfolding journey which culminated in the opening of Kerith Retreat, a beautiful space in the Blue Ridge Mountains. At Kerith, they host individuals and couples for silent or not-so-silent retreats.
